LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Jaleel Scott is on his way to the Big Apple.
The New York Jets signed the former Aggie wide receiver to their practice squad on Thursday. Scott, who was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, was let go by Baltimore during the team's final roster cuts last week.
Scott had one reception for six yards in three games for the Ravens last season after spending his rookie campaign on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He played two seasons at New Mexico State after transferring from Ellsworth Community College, totaling 99 receptions for 1,362 yards (13.8 avg.) and 14 touchdowns during his time in Las Cruces.
He hauled in 76 passes for 1,079 yards (14.2 avg.) and nine touchdowns as a senior in 2017, helping the Aggies snap their 57-year bowl drought. Scott made three catches for 37 yards and a touchdown in NM State's historic 26-20 overtime win against Utah State in the 2017 Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl.
Scott is one of four former NM State standouts currently in the NFL. He joins Philadelphia Eagles running back Jason Huntley, San Francisco 49ers long snapper Kyle Nelson and Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Winston Rose.
