WILMINGTON, Del. -
There will continue to be an NM State presence in the NBA G League in 2021.

Former Aggie star Jemerrio Jones was selected by Delaware Blue Coats in the second round of the 2021 NBA G League Draft Monday morning. The Blue Coats, an affiliate of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, chose the Memphis, Tenn., product with the 20th overall pick of the G League Draft.

The Blue Coats are the third NBA G League team who will benefit from the play of the 2018 WAC Player of the Year. Jones spent the 2019-20 campaign with the Wisconsin Herd where he helped the Milwaukee Bucks' affiliate squad post a 33-10 record on its way to the top overall seed in the Eastern Conference. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the G League suspended its 2019-20 season on March 12, 2020, before being canceled on June 4, 2020.

During his sole season in a Wisconsin Herd uniform, Jones averaged 10.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. Jones played in all but one of the Herd's 43 tilts and finished the season with 504 rebounds - the most in the league. For his efforts, Jones secured a spot on the All-NBA G League Third Team.

Jones' first year in the G League came in 2018-19 where he averaged 9.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in 47 games for the South Bay Lakers. In March of 2019, Jones was called up to the Los Angeles Lakers where he played in six games.

Through his two season in Las Cruces, Jones made a name for himself as one of the nation's most versatile players as well as one of its best rebounders. As a senior in 2017-18, he averaged 11.0 points and 13.2 rebounds per game while helping guide NM State to a WAC regular season title, the WAC Tournament crown and the program's 21st appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
