LAS CRUCES, N.M. - A player from the Land of Enchantment and another from the west coast announced their intentions to suit up for NM State in the near future.

Wednesday afternoon, NM State head softball coach Kathy Rodolph announced the addition of two players for the 2022-23 academic year. Devin Elam and Kendal Lunar each inked National Letters of Intent to join the defending WAC champions for the 2023 campaign.

Devin Elam | Long Beach, Calif./South Torrance HS | 5-10 | Catcher/1B
• With one more season to go as a prep, Elam looks to build on her already stacked resume as a member of the South Torrance High School squad.
• Under the direction of head coach Scott Hayward, Elam helped her squad secure a pair of championships finishes in the Pioneer League (2019 and 2021). The 2019 campaign was particularly memorable as her squad earned a runner-up finish among all Division Two prep programs.
• Elam has twice earned All-Pioneer League First Team acclaim and was a nominee for California's All-State team as well.
• A four-year varsity athlete, Elam will serve as a captain for her squad as a senior in 2022.

Kendal Lunar | Alamogordo, N.M./Alamogordo HS | 5'6 | Catcher
• Not many prep softball players in the state of New Mexico were able to put up similar numbers to Lunar through her time in an Alamogordo High School uniform.
• As a junior in 2021, Lunar hit .518 and racked up 29 hits, 26 RBI and eight home runs in 17 games.
• On the travel ball scene, Lunar played for Bat Club USA and helped her team post a 28-10 record.
• Lunar's talents on the prep scene in the Land of Enchantment were not lost on many as she secured a spot on the NMHSCA Second Team All-State squad as well as an All-District First Team accolade.
