Complete Release

TYLER, Texas - Tuesday morning, NM State wide receiver Jared Wyatt was named an honorable mention for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week.

One of 11 honorable mentions for the weekly award, Wyatt concluded his NM State career in spectacular fashion. During his team's 44-27 victory last Saturday afternoon over UMass, the Wylie, Texas, product latched on to six catches for 126 yards and a touchdown.

Wyatt's NM State finale represented a career-day for the wide receiver as he submitted his second 100-yard receiving game of the season with his career-best 126 yards through the air. He finished the 2021 campaign as the Aggies' leader in receiving yards having racked up 629 yards and a trio of scores through the air.

Wyatt was one of nine seniors NM State bid farewell to at the conclusion of Saturday's victory. Monday afternoon, NM State Director of Athletics Mario Moccia introduced Jerry Kill as the program's 35th head coach. Kill takes over the program from Doug Martin who did not see his contract get renewed following the Aggies' season finale last Saturday.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.

In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year D1 Texas college.
