@NMStateWBB Wraps Up Regular Season in Chicago

Aggies hit the Midwest for two games at Chicago State.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's basketball team heads to Chicago to wrap up the regular season at Chicago State on March 5 and 6. Both games are scheduled to tip at 12 p.m. (MT).

Quick Notes
• The Aggie defense forces 19.4 turnovers per game, good enough for second in the WAC.
 
• NM State's 12.9 offensive rebounds per game rank second in the conference. The Aggies are tied with Grand Canyon for first in the league with a 33.3-percent offensive rebound percentage.
 
• The Aggies are one of the top three-point shooting teams in the WAC ranking third with a 31.1-percent shooting clip from beyond the arc. Prior to an injury suffered against Tarleton, Rodrea Echols was shooting 48.6-percent from deep in WAC play.
 
• Among qualifying players, Aaliyah Prince ranks third among WAC guards, shooting 44.1-percent from the floor. This places the redshirt senior at 10th overall.  
 
Scouting the Cougars
Chicago State is currently 0-11 with a 0-8 mark in conference play. In their last game, the Cougars dropped a 61-41 decision to Tarleton on Feb. 14. The Aggies are 16-0 all-time against CSU and won the last meeting 80-56 on Feb. 6, 2020.
 
Forward Nadia Thorman-McKey leads the Cougars at 13.6 points per game which ranks in the WAC this season. Thorman-McKey also shoots the three ball at a 40-percent clip.
 
As a team, Chicago State ranks dead last in the WAC averaging just 50.5 points per game.
 
Last Time Out
The Aggies hosted Tarleton State at Eastwood High School in El Paso for a pair of WAC games. On Feb. 26, the Texans went 36-46 from the free throw line to beat the Aggies 62-53. However, NM State bounced back in a big way on Feb. 27.
 
Only dressing nine student-athletes, the Aggies shot 46.4-percent from the field and won 67-44 over Tarleton. Shania Harper (12), Aaliyah Prince (11) and freshman Molly Kaiser (11) all scored double-figures in the win. Kaiser's 11 points were a career-high for the Watauga, Texas, native.
 
Up Next
The Aggies head to Las Vegas for the WAC Tournament March 10-13 at Orleans Arena. NM State is set to open with a quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday, March 10. Time and opponent are to be determined.
