Box Score 2 LEESBURG, Fla. - The NM State softball team relied on a couple of walk-offs from redshirt freshmen
Hailey Tanori and
Ramsay Lopez to complete a perfect weekend at The Spring Games with a 2-1 win over South Dakota and a 4-2 win over Toledo in eight innings. The Aggies are currently on a six-game winning streak which is its longest win streak since the Aggies won six straight on Mar. 21-31 in 2018.
Game One vs. South Dakota
The Aggies used some seventh inning magic once again in its 2-1 win over South Dakota, as Tanori's single scored freshmen
Jillian Taylor and
Maya Martinez to give the Aggies the win in walk-off fashion. The Aggies' pitching had another phenomenal performance, this time from junior
Chloe Rivas, as she gave up just five hits with zero earned runs while striking out three batters. The Aggies mustered up nine hits against the Coyotes with redshirt freshman
Matalasi Faapito and Martinez each recording two hits for the Aggies.
Game Two vs. Toledo
A two-run home run to center field from Lopez was the deciding factor, as the Aggies improved to 4-0 in extra inning contests this spring in its 4-2 win over Toledo. Tanori picked up right where she left off in game two, as she opened up the game with a triple. A Toledo error would bring her home, and the Aggies took a 1-0 lead. The Aggies would hold that lead until Toledo pushed a run across in the fourth and fifth innings. The Aggies responded with a run of its own in the sixth inning thanks to a freshman
Audrey Shebloski double. Redshirt freshman
Felicia De La Torre kept the Rockets in check for the next two innings before Lopez's home run gave the Aggies its sixth straight win.Â
The Aggies will be back in action on Wednesday with a doubleheader against South Florida which will begin at 1 p.m. in Tampa, Fla.
