LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State volleyball team heads to Orem, Utah, to take on second-place Utah Valley in two Western Athletic Conference matches on March 8, at 6 p.m. (MT) and March 9 at 12 p.m. The undefeated Aggies have won 30-straight conference matches, 18-straight sets, 30-of-33 sets played and 10-straight matches to start the year.

Historic Performance
On Wednesday, March 3, the Aggies put together a historic performance in a 25-15, 25-11, 25-10, sweep over Seattle U at Memorial Gym in El Paso.

As a team, NM State set a school record for hitting percentage in a three-set match, hitting a scorching .554. The Aggies hit 46 kills on 74 attempts with just five errors. It was also the highest hitting percentage in a three-set match in the NCAA this season.

Individually,
Shaney Lipscomb went off for 14 kills on 14 swings to set the school record for hitting percentage in a three-set match (1.000). The previous record was held by 2015 AVCA All-American Gwen Murphy.

Scouting the Wolverines
Utah Valley currently sits at 8-3 overall with an 8-2 WAC record, good for second place behind the Aggies. Most recently, UVU took two matches from Dixie State on March 1 and 2. NM State swept UVU in the 2019 WAC Tournament semifinals behind 15 kills from
Savannah Davison.

The Wolverines have a solid offensive attack, ranking third behind NM State and GCU with a .214 hitting percentage. UVU has also been solid on defensively ranking third in opponent hitting percentage (.171) and second in blocks (2.58).

Individually, preseason All-WAC outside hitter Kazna Tanuvasa leads the Wolverine attack with 3.63 kills per set on .259 hitting. Tanuvasa has been named First-Team All-WAC twice and was the WAC Freshman of the Year in 2018.
