LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The newest member of the NM State men's basketball team will be making the move from Pac-12 country to the Land of Enchantment.
More backcourt depth is headed to Las Cruces as NM State head men's basketball coach Chris Jans announced Thursday afternoon that Washington transfer Nate Pryor has elected to join the Aggies for the 2021-22 season and beyond.
Nate Pryor | Jr. | G | 6-4 | 175 | Seattle, Wash./West Seattle HS/Washington/North Idaho
• When he arrives in Las Cruces, Pryor will be suiting up for his second NCAA Division I institution after spending the 2020-21 campaign in Seattle, Wash., where he competed for Pac-12 program Washington.
• Through his lone year in Huskies' colors, Pryor took part in 16 of Washington's 26 contests and averaged 4.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 17.5 minutes per game.
• The Seattle, Wash., native netted double-digits in the scoring column three times through the course of last season, beginning with a 13-point, five-rebound outing in a win over WAC foe Seattle U on Dec. 9. It was in that contest where Pryor made one of his two appearances in the starting lineup.
• In a neutral-site tilt with Colorado on Dec. 20, Pryor pumped in a season-high 15 points in a season-best 36 minutes.
• Prior to his season at Washington, Pryor made a name for himself as one of the premier guards on the junior college scene. He spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, helping the Cardinals go 59-3 overall during his time there.
• A two-time All-Northwest Athletic Conference (NAC) Eastern Region performer through his days at North Idaho, Pryor averaged 17.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in a Cardinals uniform. With Pryor in the backcourt, North Idaho won its final 18 games of the 2019-20 season and did not lose a single conference contest in two seasons.
• Pryor's prep career concluded with him guiding West Seattle HS to the boy's basketball state semifinals for the first time since 1970. That memorable senior-year campaign saw Pryor average 18.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
• Pryor joins other 2021-22 NM State commits Mario McKinney, Jr., Kiran Oliver II and Ishan White as newcomers to the Aggies' squad for the upcoming season.
