Strong Showing in the Javelin Gives Aggies the Lead at Jo Meaker Classic

CANYON, Texas - The New Mexico State track and field team got off to a great start Friday at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi, as the Aggies lead the field with 21 points after placing four athletes in the javelin throw. 

Andi Harrelson posted her career-best finish as an Aggie, as she led the way in the javelin throw with a runner-up finish thanks to a throw of 40.83m. Bailey Beene and Mariah Humphrey were right behind her in third and fourth place. Beene had a solid toss of 40.83m to take third, and Humphrey finished fourth with a toss of 38.21m. Alyssa Covarrubia rounded out the scoring for the Aggies with a throw of 34.27m to finish seventh. 

The Aggies will be back at it tomorrow with field events beginning at 10 a.m. and track events beginning at 1 p.m.
