10 Aggies Place on Final Day of Jo Meaker Classic and Multi

CANYON, Texas - The NM State track and field team wrapped up its third meet of the year on Saturday at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi, as the Aggies finished the meet in third-place with 70 total points.

The Aggies placed 10 athletes on Saturday. Makiya Moore was the only champion for the Aggies, as she took gold in the discus with a personal-best throw of 47.22m.

The Aggies had three runner-up finishes from Asjah Wallace in the 100m hurdles (13.76), Yemisi Oroyinyin (15.37m) in the shot put and Dascha Robinson (13.00m) in the triple jump. Oroyinyin's and Robinson's marks were the best of their careers. Robinson's mark is currently the best in the WAC and is the 19th-best mark in the NCAA this season. 

Rebecca Green posted a personal-best throw of 42.63m in the discus to finish third. Terice Steen finished fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 57.23, while Green (13.86m) and Wallace (24.24) posted career-bests in the shot put and 200m dash to finish fifth. Valissa Brown (14.49) and Israel Swanson (14.56) each posted personal bests in the 100m hurdles to finish seventh and eighth respectively. 

The Aggies will be back in the state of Texas next Friday and Saturday for the Masked Rider Open in Lubbock, Texas.
