LAS CRUCES, N.M.  – The New Mexico State volleyball team inked Mia Peterson for the fall 2021 season, head coach
Mike Jordan announced on Friday.
Â
"We're excited to have Mia join us," said Jordan. "She's going to be a very good player and she's a versatile attacker. She's got great energy, just like her mom [Angela Lobendahn-Peterson]."
Â
Peterson, a native of Pleasant Grove, Utah, starred at Pleasant Grove High School. The outside hitter was named First Team All-State in 2019 and 2021 while leading the Vikings to a UHSAA state championship in 2019. She was also named Prep Volleyball Honorable Mention All-American.
Â
The 5-11 Peterson is the daughter of former Aggie star Angela Lobendahn-Peterson who ranks ninth in the NM State record books for career kills (1,250) and fifth in a single season when she hit 494 kills in 2000. Lobendahn-Peterson was also Jordan's first recruit at NM State.
