LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The NM State track and field team looks to build off of its third-place finish last week at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi when they head to Lubbock, Texas, on Friday and Saturday for the Masked Rider Open. The javelin will get started at noon on Friday with the discus throw following the conclusion of the javelin throw. Saturday's events will also begin at noon with the pole vault. Track events are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with the 3000m steeplechase.
Last Time Out
The Aggies had a solid showing at the Jo Meaker Multi and Classic, as they placed 13 athletes on its way to a third-place finish.
Makiya Moore was the lone champion for the Aggies in the discus. Moore posted a personal-best throw of 47.22m to take home the title.
Asjah Wallace and
Dascha Robinson put up some spectacular individual times and mark, as Wallace currently holds the best times in the WAC in the 100m hurdles (13.80) and the 200m dash (24.24). Robinson posted a career-best jump of 13.00m in the triple jump which leads the WAC and is tied for 19th in the nation.Â
Robinson Earns WAC Field Athlete of the Week
Robinson picked up her second career WAC Field Athlete of the Week on Monday morning after a career performance in the triple jump last weekend at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi. Robinson is the second athlete to be honored by the WAC this season, as
Corinne Hanson picked up WAC Track Athlete of the Week last week.Â
Robinson posted a career-best mark of 13.00m at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi. Robinson's mark earned her a second-place finish and helped the Aggies to a third-place finish as a team. Robinson's 13.00m mark leads the WAC and is the 19th-best jump in the NCAA this season.Â
