LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's volleyball team took on Texas Tech in an exhibition match inside the Pan American Center Practice Gym on Saturday afternoon. The two teams played five sets to 25 with Tech winning three sets and the Aggies taking two sets.
 
Due to an abundance of caution in regards to student-athlete safety, the match, originally scheduled to be played in the Pan American Center main gym, was moved to the practice gym.
 
"We played three different lineups today," said head coach Mike Jordan. "One of them I liked, one of them I was so-so on and one of them I hated. We expected to be messy at spots, but we played a really talented Texas Tech team that has a lot of returners and I thought we competed pretty well for good stretches. I think we made too many attack errors but I thought Darian Markham did a good job at Libero. We have a lot of reason to be optimistic but lots of stuff we need to work on."
 
The Aggies are now set to get the regular-season underway at the Cactus Classic in Tucson, Ariz., with matches against UC San Diego and Arizona on Friday, Aug. 27. Both UC San Diego and Arizona received votes in the preseason AVCA Coaches Poll.
