ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Sophomore Aidan Thomas fired a final round 74 to finish first at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate hosted by the University of New Mexico at the UNM Championship Course, Saturday.
Thomas finished at -9 overall to finish one shot clear of Jiri Zuska of Louisville, Keanu Akina of BYU abnd Sam Choi (UNM) who finished at -8 overall. The individual title is the second of Thomas' career, as the New Mexico native finished tied with Dawson Lewis of Wichita State at the 2019 Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate hosted by NM State. Thomas is the first aggie to win an individual title outright since Ryo Harada in 2017.
The Aggies, who recorded a team score of 870 (+6), finished fifth overall.
BYU finished -23 overall to roll to the team title, finishing 19 strokes clear of host UNM (-4) who finished second. Sophomore Joseph Robson was the lone Aggie to finish under-par Saturday, as the Englishman fired a one-under round of 71 to finish tied for 24th (+4).
Louisville fired the low-round of the day (280, -8) to finish third, while San Diego finished at +3, three shots ahead of the Aggies.
Denver (+16), Colorado (+18), Loyola Marymount (+19), UNLV (+19) and Nebraska (+21) round out the top-10. Florida Atlantic (+21), UTEP (+29), Santa Clara (+34), Wyoming (+34), North Texas (+39), Louisiana Tech (+40), Dixie State (+48) and VCU (+53).
