Aggies Bolster Lineup via Transfer Portal

The NM State volleyball team will bring on two more by next fall, Mike Jordan announced Tuesday.

LAS CRUCES – NM State Head Coach Mike Jordan announced Tuesday that he will be adding a pair from the transfer portal — bringing on Rylee Fay and Molly Johnson. Fay will join the Aggies this spring, while Johnson will start her Aggie career this summer.

Fay, a 5-foot-8-inch-tall setter from Iowa City, Iowa, will join Jordan's squad after spending her freshman year with Missouri State. With the Bears, Fay accumulated 70 assists, 35 digs and eight service aces as she saw time in 12 matches during the 2020-21 season.

"Rylee's a very good athlete with a lot of upside," Head Coach Jordan expressed. "She's going to locate well, she serves tough, she plays hard defensively and she loves to compete. We're excited she's joining us this spring."

Johnson, a 6-foot 4-inch outside hitter who hails from Ann Arbor, Mich., will make her way to Las Cruces as a graduate transfer after spending the previous four seasons with Michigan State. During her time with the Spartans, Johnson played a big role for MSU as she played in 92 matches and compiled 473 kills and 212 blocks to average 1.63 kills and 0.73 blocks per set. She was also named Academic All-Big Ten in 2020.

"Molly will help us immediately on both sides," said Coach Jordan. "She's a versatile attacker, a force as a blocker and should help us in all 6 rotations. She brings years of Big 10 playing experience and, along with it, the competitiveness and maturity everyone wants in a player. This is a great fit."
