Aggies Rewrite Record Books at MLK Invitational

Aliyah Logan records second fastest 60m hurdle in NM State history

RESULTS
 
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –  A quartet of Aggies etched their name into the school's record books Saturday at the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational, hosted by University of New Mexico. 

Freshman Makiya Moore started the day for the Aggies, placing eighth in the weight toss with a throw of 53-07 1/2, and 15th in the shot put with a throw of (11.55m). 

Sophomore's Brianna Gayle and Jhana Downie finished eight and ninth in the 200m dash after posting times of (24.77) and (24.94), respectively. Following last weekends first place finish in the 1000m dash, Thulisile Amon placed eighth in the 800m dash posting a time of (2:18.24). 
 
Sophomore Valissa Brown's jump of (5.55m) landed her 10th all time in NM State history, and 13th at the MLK Invitational. Freshman Thobile Amon put herself in the record books for the second consecutive week, finishing ninth with a personal best of (5:06.09) in the mile, while also placing her 10th all time in school history.

Sophomore Rebecca Green placed fourth in the shot put throwing (14.23m), giving her sole possession of sixth all time in the school's record book.

To cap the record setting performances at the MLK Invitational, Sophomore Aliyah Logan advanced to the 60m hurdle finals with a qualifying time of (8.57), placing her fifth all time in program history. In the finals, Logan improved on her time to (8.45), catapulting her into a tie with Asjah Wallace for the second best 60m hurdle time in NM State history. 

The Aggies day in Albuquerque concluded with a third place finish in the 4x400, where the team of Bailey Yost, Thulisile Amon, Thobile Amon and Victoria Veserra combined for a time of 4:02.15.

The Aggies will be back in Albuquerque, N.M. next week (Sat., Jan. 29) competing in the New Mexico Team Open, before taking their third consecutive trip to the Duke City on February 4th and 5th for the New Mexico Classic.
