Aggies Bag Second Straight Championship in Tulsa

After winning the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, the Aggies are co-champions of The Clerico

TULSA, Okla. – Champions, again. After winning the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate last week, the NM State men's golf team stayed hot with a co-championship at The Clerico in Tulsa. South Alabama was eventually named champions of the event after tiebreakers were determined.
 
With back-to-back championships, the Aggies concluded the fall season on as high of a note as possible. The Aggies struggled on Tuesday, shooting 20-strokes worse than the 280 the team fired on Monday. Nonetheless, NM State never fell out of first place. Garrison Smith posted NM State's best individual score with a 141 (-1), giving him a sixth place finish.
 
Aidan Thomas also recorded a top-ten finish at The Clerico, shooting a 145 (+3). Alexandre Bauduin and Javier Delgadillo both tied for 16th, firing 147's (+5) in the tournament.
 
Lance Christensen Jr. made his first collegiate start at The Clerico. The former state champion from South Dakota tied for 51st over the 36 holes, carding a 154 (+12).
 
Round Two Notes
  • NM State and South Alabama were co-champions of The Clerico
  • Luke Kluver of Oklahoma and Brandon Hoff of Oral Roberts were co-individual champions, shooting a 137 (-5).
  • NM State posted a scoring average of 4.15 on Par 4 holes – The lowest among the field.
  • The Aggies led the field 114 pars over 36 holes.
  • NM State wraps up the fall season and will not compete again until January 30, 2023 at the Arizona Intercollegiate.
