Aggies to Add Homegrown Standout in 2023

Four-year starter at Centennial High School to join Aggies next season

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Aggies will officially be adding some homegrown talent to the 2023 roster.
 
Libero Bella Castro will be joining the Aggies following another stellar season during her senior year at Centennial High School.

  • Castro has been a four-year starter at Centennial and has already been named first-team All State three times during her career with the Hawks with 2022 All-State selections yet to be announced.
  • Touted as one of the best District 3-5A volleyball players in New Mexico by the Las Cruces Sun-News in October.
  • She helped lead her team to a 19-7 overall record and a 9-1 record in district play to earn the number four seed in the 2022 New Mexico State Volleyball Playoffs.
  • Finished her senior campaign as one of the Hawks' defensive leaders as she tallied 313 digs to post a team-best 4.2 digs per set.
  • She also finished as the team's leader in service aces with 47 total on the season.
  • During her junior season, she played a major role in leading the Hawks to a 23-3 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark against district opponents.
  • Castro also led CHS in digs per set in her junior season, compiling 282 digs while adding 38 aces.
  • Castro also drew interest from NM State rivals UTEP and New Mexico in addition to Utah State.
