UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash.  – As the NM State women's golf team puts the finishing touches on their spring season, the team sits in the middle of the pack at the Redhawk Invitational. NM State is tied for eighth place after the opening day with Sacramento State, shooting 613 (+37).
 
Valentina Origel paced the Aggies in the second round, shooting a 71 (-1). The sophomore from Irapuato, Mexico shaved 12 strokes off of her opening round score to lead the Aggies.
 
The Aggies lead the trio of WAC schools in the tournament in their final tune-up before the WAC Championships. NM State is seven strokes ahead of Grand Canyon and seventeen strokes ahead of the tournament host Seattle U.
 
Round One

• Arantza Armas birdied a team-high three times in the opening round. Between holes 14-18, Armas posted a score of two under.
• Both Amelia McKee and Valentina Origel birdied on the eighth hole for their lone birdies of the day.
• Meiji Tungprapunvong paced the Aggies in the opening round with a score of 77.
• Alison Gastelum finished right behind Tungprapunvong, shooting 78.

Round Two

• Valentina Origel finished the second round shooting a 71 (-1), the best score of the day for the Aggies.
• Origel shaved 12 strokes off of her score from the opening round.
• Amelia McKee and Meiji Tungprapunvong posted matching 74's on the scorecard in the evening session.
• Alison Gastelum posted a 73 (+1) in the second round as the Aggies cut 13 strokes off their team score.
