LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The NM State baseball team found its way back into the win column on Tuesday night against Benedictine Mesa, winning 12-3. Remaining undefeated in the all-time series, the Aggies picked up their fifth consecutive win over the Redhawks.

After the Redhawks opened the game with a run in the top of the first inning, Kevin Jimenez responded with a run for the Aggies in the bottom half. With nobody out, Jimenez bounced out to the shortstop, scoring Brandon Dieter

Logan Gallina launched his 11th home run of the season in the third inning, putting the Aggies on top 4-1. The Aggies added two more runs in the fourth inning on a single from Hunter Antillon and a sacrifice fly from Dieter.

The Aggies blew the game wide open in the fourth inning when they tacked on four more runs. Gallina smoked his second home run of the day – 12th of the season – for the first two runs of the inning. Gallina became the first Aggie in 2022 to record five or more RBI in a game. Later in the inning, Cal Villareal ripped a two-run single to right field, scoring Ryan Grabosch and Kyle Westfall

In the sixth and eighth innings, the Redhawks added a run to cut their deficit to seven runs.  The Aggies added another pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning thanks to an RBI single from Edwin Martinez-Pagani and an error by the Redhawk shortstop. That was where the scoring stopped as the Aggies held off the Redhawks in the ninth inning.
