DENVER, Colo. – A trio of Aggies have once again been named to the All-WAC teams, the conference announced Friday.
Amelia McKee and
Alison Gastelum both earned First Team All-WAC Honors. McKee, a junior from Spring, Texas, carded a second-place finish at the WAC Women's Golf Championship and helped pace the Aggies as they qualified for NCAA Regionals. McKee also finished second at the Aggie Invitational, shooting 210 for her best 54 holes of the season. McKee finished the season with four eagles, the highest single-season mark in NM State history, beginning with the 1993-94 season.
Gastelum, a sophomore from Chihuahua, Mexico, finished in a tie for fifth-place at the WAC Women's Golf Championship. The top-five finish at the conference tournament was her third top-ten finish of the season. Gastelum's average round score of 74.35 over the course of the season was the 15th best in school history.
Both Gastelum and McKee rank inside the top five in NM State history for scoring average. The duo both earned All-WAC honors last season as well, with McKee taking home Player of the Year honors.
Head coach
Danny Bowen took home his third consecutive WAC Coach of the Year award after leading the Aggies to their 11th WAC women's golf title in his fourth year as head coach. With their title, the Aggies earned the WAC's automatic qualifier spot and clinched their 20
th appearance in NCAA Regionals, beginning on May 9. The regional site will be announced next Wednesday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m. MT on the Golf Channel.
