LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Head coach
Jerry Kill has announced the addition of
Pecos Fort to his staff as the Director of Video. Fort, a native of Lovington, New Mexico, previously spent time at Eastern New Mexico University in the early days of his career.
In 2021, Fort served as the Director of Player Personnel and Video Coordinator at Montana. With the Grizzlies, Fort saw the FCS program upset No. 20 Washington on the way to a 10-3 season, reaching the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs. The sixth-ranked Grizzlies earned a first round bye before upending Eastern Washington 57-41 in the second round.
Before making the trek north to Missoula, Montana, Fort served as the offensive line coach at Denver City High School in Denver City, Texas. While at Denver City, four of the five starting offensive linemen were named to All-District teams. While with the Mustangs, Fort also coached golf and taught world history.
Returning home to New Mexico, Fort served as the wide receivers and tight ends coach for Eastern New Mexico University in 2018 and 2019. While with the Greyhounds, Fort oversaw a pair of strong position groups, highlighted by All-Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention Tyler Lynch at tight end.
Before heading to ENMU, Fort had worked as a student assistant at his alma mater, Adams State. Working under Timm Rosenbach, Fort helped out with the offensive line and was the school's assistant equipment manager while also planning and coordinating team camps throughout the summer. Fort also managed the video operations while at Adams State.
Just after graduation, Fort began his career as an assistant coach at Lovington High School, where he served as the assistant offensive line coach for the high school team and led the linemen for the middle school program.
Fort earned a bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Adams State in Alamosa, Colorado as a member of the Class of 2017. Throughout his time at Adams State, he volunteered as an assistant basketball coach for the Alamosa Family Recreation Center and mentored young athletes in the community.
