NM State looks to defend its WAC title as they travel to nine states

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NM State women's golf head coach Danny Bowen announced the 2022-23 schedule on Wednesday, August 10. Much to the delight of the NM State faithful, the Aggies will once again host a home tournament - The Golf Iconic Classic, beginning on Monday, October 3 at the NM State Golf Course.

"Our program is excited with the schedule that we've put together this year. Playing in nine different states will give us the opportunity to challenge the girls with contrasting types of golf courses, conditions, and field," stated Bowen. "There are qualifying teams that we'll be up against in every event, so we will need to be well prepared and ready to play like it's our last time, every time."

Bowen and the Aggies will begin their season on September 11 and 12 in Pawley's Island, South Carolina at the Golfweek Fall Challenge. The team's second event will also be hosted by Golfweek as NM State travels to Vail, Colorado for the Red Sky Classic.

Returning to The Land of Enchantment, the Aggies will host the Golf Iconic Classic from Monday, October 3 through Wednesday, October 5. Much like the Herb Wimberly Invitational hosted by NM State men's golf, details of the Golf Iconic Classic will be shared at a later date.

After the home tournament, the Aggies will pack up and head to Lawrence, Kansas for the Marilynn Smith / Sunflower Invitational, hosted by the University of Kansas. The team's final fall event will take place at the Lawrence Country Club and run from Monday, October 17 until Tuesday, October 18.

To kick off the spring, NM State will head to Long Beach, California for The Beach Invite, hosted by Long Beach State University. Over St. Patrick's Day weekend, the Aggies head to Tucson for the MountainView Collegiate, hosted by Kansas State.

"Aggies in Paradise" takes on a whole new meaning when NM State travels to the Ka'anapali Royal Golf Club in Maui, Hawai'i for the Anuenue Spring Break Classic.

Following the trip to Hawai'i, Bowen will lead the Aggies into battle at the Cowgirl Classic, hosted by Wyoming. The Cowgirl Classic will once again be held in Arizona, shifting from Phoenix in 2022 to Maricopa for the 2023 event.

The women will look to defend their WAC Championship for the final time from April 23-25 at the Semiahmoo Country Club in Blaine, Washington. From there, the Aggies plan to compete in NCAA Regionals and the NCAA National Championships to close out 2023.
