The back-to-back-to-back WAC Coach of the Year to remain an Aggie through 2026.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced Tuesday that women's golf head coach Danny Bowen has signed a contract extension to keep Bowen as an Aggie through the 2025-26 academic year.

"Danny has been one of our most consistent and successful head coaches and it has been wonderful to see the success that his student-athletes have achieved in the classroom and on the links," said Moccia. "I am happy we are able to retain him and look forward to more championships during his tenure.

Coming off of his third consecutive WAC Coach of the Year Award, Bowen will look to once again lead NM State to an NCAA Regional appearance – What would be the 21st in program history. Last season, NM State capped off their campaign with a trip to the NCAA Albuquerque Regional.

Bowen, a 2006 graduate of NM State, is entering his sixth season as the head coach of the Aggies in 2022-23. After securing the Aggies' seventh WAC Championship in eight seasons, Bowen and company look to finish their time in the Western Athletic Conference on a high note.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to continue to build on what we've been able to accomplish over the past few years," said Bowen. "We're looking forward to continuing a tradition-rich culture here in Las Cruces."

Since taking the reins in 2017, Bowen has coached three WAC Golfers of the Year (Amelia McKee, 2020-21; Dominique Galloway, 2018-19; Pun Chanachai, 2017-18), several All-WAC selections, and multiple WGCA All-American Scholars.

The Aggies will get the 2022-23 season underway with the Golfweek Fall Challenge, beginning Friday, September 11 in Pawley's Island, South Carolina. The Aggies will return All-WAC First-Team selection Alison Gastelum, a junior from Chihuahua, Mexico who will look to once again pace the program. Gastelum also earned WGCA All-American Scholar honors for her efforts in the classroom.

Three newcomers will join Bowen and the rest of the Aggies throughout the 2022-23 campaign – Emma Bunch (Freshman | Lynge, Denmark), Kaylee Chen (Freshman | Denver, Colo.), and Marley Moncada (Freshman | Tucson, Ariz.).
