LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After opening the season at the Corky Classic, the NM State indoor track & field team returns to the Land of Enchantment, traversing up I-25 to compete in the MLK Collegiate Invite, hosted by the University of New Mexico. Coming off a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles at the Corky Classic with a time of 8.29,
Aliyah Logan was named the WAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week. Logan is scheduled to compete in the same event again on Saturday.
The Starting Line
- The MLK Collegiate Invite is the first of four straight meets NM State will compete at in Albuquerque.

- 29 athletes are scheduled to participate across 12 events.
- Aliyah Logan took third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.29 at the Corky Classic while also setting a new personal record en route to being named WAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week.
- Phethisang Makhethe set a new personal best last weekend while taking first place in the weight throw with a distance of 19.41m.

- Phethisang Makhethe notched the Aggies first first-place finish of the 2023 season in the weight throw, breaking a personal best and surpassing her own record for second longest toss in NM State history with a mark of 19.41m (63' 8.25").
- Sophomore transfer Miranda Tcheutchuoa competed in her first even as an Aggie, finishing tenth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.98m (52' 5.25")
- Thulisile Amon outlasted the competition to take first place in the 1,000m run, crossing the line with a time of 3:00.47
- Newcomer Angela Korte competed in her first collegiate meet, finishing second in her heat and ninth overall with a time of 3:13.52 in the 1,000m.
- Freshman thrower Alesha Lane competed in the shotput for the first time in her young career, taking eleventh place with a distance of 13.47m (44' 2.5")
- Aliyah Logan and Valissa Brown qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles, Logan taking third place with a time of 8.29 while Brown finished fourth with a mark of 8.33. Both runners set personal records in the process.
- Cameron Hodges secured a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 11.72m (38' 5.5") at her first collegiate meet.
- Emily Stutesman (10:02.18), Thobile Amon (10:07.87), and Maggie Gibbs (10:18.79) finished second, third and fourth respectively in the 3,000m run. Amon set a new personal best with that time.
