Pavia's three-touchdown performance garners national attention

FORT WORTH, Texas – NM State Quarterback Diego Pavia has been awarded with yet another national award as he was named to this week's Davey O'Brien Great 8 list after guiding the Aggies to a 31-10 road victory over Auburn on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

In the victory, Pavia played a primary role in helping the Aggies become just the second team to score more than 30 points against Auburn this season. Pavia also became just the second quarterback this season to throw three touchdown passes against the Auburn defense – joining Heisman candidate Jayden Daniels.

With the performance on Saturday, Pavia has now thrown multiple touchdowns in nine of the Aggies' 12 games this season and with 201 passing yards, he has now eclipsed 200 passing yards seven times this season.

ABOUT THE DAVEY O'BRIEN AWARD

The Davey O'Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981. Over its time, the Davey O'Brien Foundation has given away more than $1.3 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.

In 1938, O'Brien, who wore No. 8 as a star quarterback for TCU, became the first player ever to win the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award in the same year. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1955.
