MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – A rainy day in California saw some struggles NM State shot a 325 in the opening round and found themselves in a tie for eleventh place after the first 18 holes. Before play was suspended, the Aggies managed to slide into tenth place.
In the first round of The Beach Invitational, no Aggie managed to birdie more than once with
Valentina Origel,
Arantza Armas Stenner, and
Alex Quihuis each carding a birdie.
Alison Gastelum had the low score for the Aggies in round one, shooting a 79 (+7). The bright spot of Gastelum's round came between holes five and 12 as she went just one over par.
The second round saw upward action for NM State as the team slid into tenth before play was suspended due to a lack of light and course conditions as puddles began to form. Quihuis and Origel saw success on the back nine holes in the evening. The duo combined to go one-under with a birdie from Origel on 18.
On Tuesday, play will resume at 8:00 a.m. PT to conclude the second round before the originally scheduled final round begins.
