ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After a solid showing on Friday, the NM State Track & Field team returned to the Albuquerque Convention Center for day two of the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of New Mexico. Multiple Aggies recorded top-20 finishes and set personal bests, including
Thobile Amon, who's time of 4:58.81 in the mile secured an eighth-place finish and a new personal record.
Valissa Brown (8.55) and
T'Erica Boyd (8.89) claimed top-15 finishes in the qualifying round of the 60m hurdles, finishing third and 13
th respectively. Brown and
Aliyah Logan turned in top-20 performances in the prelims, with Brown crossing the line 17
th with a time of 8.44 and Logan in 19
th with a time of 8.51.
Sierra Brewer managed 13
th place with a time of 7.60 in the 60m dash qualifying round.
A trio of Aggies made the top-20 in the mile run, with
Thobile Amon setting the pace for the team with a personal best time of 4:58.81 to take eighth.
Maggie Gibbs claimed 11
th with a time of 5:01.21 to set a new personal best, with
Emily Stutesman taking 17
th with a time of 5:14.88 to round out the top finishers.
Kayla O'Connell recorded a personal best after crossing the line with a time of 5:21.60.
Terice Steen rounded out the top finishers for the Aggies, taking 14
th in the 400m dash, collecting a new personal best with a time of 55.16.
The 4x400 team of
Terice Steen,
Jhana Downie,
T'Erica Boyd and
Jahnya Hill pulled off a massive performances in Albuquerque. The team finished the race fourth overall, defeating a number top schools including TCU and Grand Canyon, and also moved into the number two spot all-time in school histroy for the event.
