Aggies Add Setter Aspen Aldous for 2023 Campaign

The 6-2 setter averaged over 10 assists per set at CGCC last season

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After reinforcing its prowess at the net with its last two signings, NM State volleyball has now added a former high school All-American in setter Aspen Aldous to the fold.
 
Head Coach Mike Jordan announced Monday that the 6-2 Dayton transfer would be joining the Crimson & White for the 2023 season.
 
"Aspen has the potential to become a very good setter at this level," noted Coach Jordan. "Her length and competitiveness are great, and she's got a good touch and setting foundation."

  • Comes to Las Cruces after spending last season at Chandler-Gilbert CC where she played in all 22 of the Coyote's matches and led the team in assists per set at 10.69.
  • Additionally, she led CGCC in service aces per set (0.42) while averaging 2.41 digs per set. In her lone season with the program, she helped lead the Coyotes to a 15-7 overall record and a 12-3 mark in league play.
  • With Aldous serving as the primary setter, CGCC advanced to the Region I Division II Tournament semifinals.
  • Last season, she was named to the All-ACCAC Second Team while also garnering a spot on the NJCAA All-Region I, Division II First Team.
  • Was named a 2019-20 Prep-Volleyball All-American and a National Andi Collins Setter Award Finalist as a senior while earning recognition as a 2020 Prep-Volleyball Top Recruit.
  • While playing at Basha High School in Chandler, Ariz., she led the program to the 2019-20 Arizona 6A State Championship title.
  • In 2020, Aldous was named Arizona First Team All-State, First Team All-Premier Region and CUSD First Team All-District.
  • The Under Armour All-American nominee also finished her career at Basha as the school record holder in assists (1,295) in a single season while ranking first in the state of Arizona for two consecutive seasons in aces with 66 in 2019-20 and 57 in 2018-19.
  • As a junior, she tallied 1,102 assists to lead her team and rank second in Arizona. Following the 2018-19 season, she was named Arizona All-State Honorable Mention and All-6A Conference Honorable Mention.
  • Aspen is the daughter of Mandy and Will Aldous and has four siblings – Austin, London, Payson and Loudy.
