HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Well, back in the 90s, Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler, and Joey tried to warn us that there'd be days like these. Saturday's game was anything but friendly to the NM State baseball program as the Aggies fell 17-4 in Huntsville.
The Aggies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two innings, powered by a two-run home run in the first inning by
Kevin Jimenez. NM State tacked on another run in the second inning on a
Romeo Ballesteros single to right field, allowing
Nolan Funke to beat the throw to home plate.
From there, it was all Bearkats. The Bearkats sent 24 batters to the plate as they combined to score 15 runs in the third and fourth innings.
In the seventh inning, NM State took a run back following a passed ball with the bases loaded. Unfortunately, it was not enough as the Bearkats took the shortened game in dominant fashion. The Aggies will look to bounce back on Sunday with the series finale, beginning at 11:00 a.m. MT.
