LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The red-hot bats continued for NM State on Saturday night as the Aggies took a slugfest over Stephen F. Austin by the score of 11-9.
Preston Godfrey played the hero for the Aggies, launching a two-run walk off home run deep into the night sky.
As was the case on Friday, SFA opened the scoring with a run in the first. This time, NM State responded with five runs to crack the game open.
Keith Jones II led off the game for NM State with a home run – His third blast of the season. After a four-hit game on Friday,
Nolan Funke continued his tear with a two-run single. Following Funke's lead,
Nick Gore ripped a single plate another run.
The 'Jacks scored six unanswered runs between the second and third inning to reclaim a 7-5 lead. In the fourth inning, NM State once again answered with four runs of their own to swing the momentum back to the home dugout.

Logan Gallina's return to the lineup, he smoked a home run to right-center to lead off the fourth inning. One batter later, Jones II lifted his second home run of the game for his second multi-homer game of the season. After a single from

Kevin Jimenez launched his career-best seventh home run of the season to put NM State back in front.
The score would remain 9-7 in favor of NM State until the top of the ninth when SFA struck for a pair of runs. Needing a run to avoid extra innings, NM State took care of business and scored a pair.
Nick Gore drew a walk to open the bottom of the ninth inning giving way to Godfrey. On a 3-1 pitch, Godfrey smoked a ball well up the trees beyond the left field wall, sparking a celebration at home plate for the ages.
The home run marked the second walk off win in two days for the Aggies and marked the first series win of 2023. NM State and SFA will conclude the three-game set on Sunday, beginning at noon.
