Aggies Record Strong Performances in Albuquerque

Five Aggies record first-place finishes

RESULTS
ALBUQUERQUE, NM. – In a mid-week tilt, NM State traveled up I-10 for their penultimate regular season meet - the Don Kirby Tailwind Open, hosted by the University of New Mexico. The Aggies picked up a quintet of wins while recording a multitude of personal bests.  
 
Jhana Downie competed in the 100m dash for the first time in her collegiate career, picking up a third-place finish after crossing the line with a time of 11.34. Sierra Brewer joined Downie in the event, finishing in fifth with a time of 11.70. Angelina Killings recorded a personal best in the 100m, improving to a time of 12.71. Later in the afternoon Downie competed in the 200m dash, notching her first win of the weekend with a time of 23.46 – a new personal best. Jody Blackwood also secured a personal best in the 200m dash with a time of 24.85.  
 
Makiya Moore topped the field in the discus, finishing with a final distance of 47.67m. Rebecca Green joined Moore on the podium, taking third place with a mark of 39.92m (156-05"). Green later led the competition in the shot put, taking home the gold with a distance of 14.05m (46-1.25"). Bailey Beene recorded a first-place finish in the javelin toss, her first in her collegiate career, setting a new personal best in the process with a final distance of 48.34m (158-7").
 
T'Erica Boyd leaped over the competition in the 400m hurdles, setting a new personal best while taking first place with a time of 59.91. In the 800m dash, freshman Angela Korte recorded her second top-five finish of the outdoor season, posting a time of 2:24.57 – setting a new personal best in the process. Thobile Amon and Vanessa Gracian posted strong showings in the 1500m run, finishing third with a time of 4:41.70 and fifth with a final mark of 5:06.72 respectively.

UP NEXT
Following the one day meet in Albuquerque, NM State reconvenes next weekend at the Desert Heat Classic, hosted by the University of Arizona. The one-day competition is slated for Saturday, April 29th.
