ARLINGTON, TEXAS – On Wednesday morning, the Western Athletic Conference released a Pre-Championship Poll ahead of the 2023 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held in Nacogdoches, Texas – hosted by Stephen F. Austin University. Of the 13 schools competing in the women's championship, the Aggies were picked to finish first with nine of the 13 votes going the Aggies way.
Last season, NM State was tabbed fourth in the Pre-Championship Poll before finishing sixth with 74 points.
Aliyah Logan and
Phethisang Makhethe recorded the Aggies two first-place finishes, taking the gold in the 100m hurdles and Hammer Throw respectively.
The 4x100 relay team,
Grace Pendarvis (200m Dash), and
Terice Steen (400m Hurdles) recorded second-place finishes, earning NM State eight points apiece.
