LAS CRUCES, N.M. – On Friday morning, NM State Football picked up a pair of national honors from HERO Sports, led by a Third Team All-American selection for offensive lineman 
Canaan Yarro.
 
At center, Yarro has been named a Preseason Third Team Group of Five All-American by Hero Sports. In 2022, Yarro appeared in 12 games for the Aggies and anchored a greatly improved offensive line. Behind solid efforts from Yarro and the rest of the offensive line, the Aggies gained 2,099 yards on the ground, averaging 4.6 yards per carry – the highest in both categories since 2015. Yarro's efforts helped pave the way for a school-record 25 rushing touchdowns throughout the season.
 
Earlier this offseason, Yarro was named Preseason All-Conference USA Fourth Team by Athlon Sports.
 
NM State also appears in the HERO Sports Group of Five Top 25 poll as the season inches closer. The Aggies' are receiving votes alongside Navy, Buffalo, East Carolina, Southern Miss, Wyoming, UAB, and Conference USA members Middle Tennessee and Louisiana Tech.
 
Yarro and the Aggies will kick off the season on August 26 versus UMass at Aggie Memorial Stadium. Season tickets for NM State Football are available for purchase through the Pan American Center ticket office with prices starting at just $70 ($55 for NM State faculty and staff).
