NM State Swim and Dive to Open 2023-24 Campaign at Home

The Aggies will host Northern Colorado on Oct. 14 to start year.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – In nine weeks, the Aggie swim and dive program will officially begin their season as they kick off the year with a home meet versus Northern Colorado.

On Friday evening, NM State Head Coach Rick Pratt announced the full slate for the 2023-24 season which is set to begin on Saturday, Oct. 14, when the Bears come to Las Cruces. Prior to the first meet of the season, the Aggies will take to the pool for the annual Crimson & White meet on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the NM State Swimming and Diving Complex.

"We are very excited about the coming season and the opportunities our student athletes will have," Head Coach Rick Pratt said. "Our schedule is competitive and challenging and should give the team many opportunities to prepare for the WAC Championships.

We have a couple new events on the schedule which will be exciting like the Hawkeye Invite after thanksgiving. That meet will have a strong field and give us a great experience. It is a balanced schedule and will be busy, but our new freshmen and returners will be ready for the challenges that face us."

A week after hosting UNC, NM State will invite its large alumni base for the always-entertaining Alumni Meet. The Alumni Meet is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21, with events getting underway at 11:30 a.m.

Following spending a month at home, the Aggies will find themselves on the road for the next seven meets, beginning with a road trip to Texas in which they will clash with TCU on Nov. 3 and North Texas on Nov. 4 in their respective pools.

Many Aggie fans will circle Nov. 11 as one of the biggest meets of the year as NM State travels north in search of its fourth-straight win over New Mexico. Following the duel with UNM, the Aggie swimmers will have the week off while the dive squad heads to Flagstaff, Ariz., to compete in the NAU Diving Invite on Nov. 17-19.

The ensuing week, the divers and swimmers will switch roles as the Iowa City, Iowa, becomes home to the swimmers for three days as they compete in the Hawkeye Invite while the Aggie divers rejuvenate at home.

NM State's team will then reunite to compete as a whole in Flagstaff on Dec. 16 when they battle with Northern Arizona. The Aggies' next meet will also take place in the Grand Canyon State when they face off with GCU on Jan. 13.

Finally, NM State will play host on Saturday, Jan. 27, when UNM visits Las Cruces for the Aggies' final duel of the season. The Battle of I-25 will also serve as NM State's Senior Day.

Ahead of the WAC Championships, the NM State divers will have one last opportunity to fine-tune their skills as they head to Colorado Springs, Colo., for the Air Force Diving Invite on Feb. 2-4.

For the second straight year, the NM State swim and dive program will head to Pharr, Texas, for the WAC Championships on Feb. 28-Mar. 2. This will also be the final opportunity for the Aggies to earn a spot at the NCAA Diving Zone Championships (Mar. 10-12) or NCAA Championships (Mar. 20-23).
