VANCOUVER, British Columbia - After a tremendous season for the Winnipeg Sea Bears, former NM State standout Teddy Allen was named the Most Valuable Player in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) on Wednesday night.
Â
Throughout the season, the man that Aggie fans came to know as "Teddy Buckets", set multiple scoring records. On June 3, Allen dropped 42 points against the Scarborough Shooting Stars and matched the CEBL single-game scoring record. In the playoffs, Allen poured in 35 points to break the league's playoff scoring record. In the game, Allen also tallied 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Â
Â
Allen finished in the top ten across the CEBL in average points (27.6), assists (77), average defensive rebounds (6.5), average total rebounds (8.0), total rebounds (167), average steals (1.7), free throw percentage (80.5%), and led the league in both three pointers made (72) and average minutes played (36.1).
Â
Allen also becomes the first Sea Bear to earn CEBL Player of the Year honors. To take home the highest honors in the CEBL, Allen edged out Justin Wright-Foreman, a 2019 NBA Draft selection by the Utah Jazz out of Hofstra.
