PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – After one round at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, NM State sits in fourth place. The Aggies sit just six shot off of the lead entering Monday's second round. After 18 holes of competition, NM State is tied for the team lead on Par 3s (3.00) and pars (60).
 
NM State pieced together an incredible opening round in South Carolina and will enter Monday in third place. 
Angela Garvin and 
Kaylee Chen both fired opening round 72's (+1), putting them into a tie for 11th place. Garvin's first round as an Aggie featured a trio of birdies while Chen's round included a field-leading 17 pars.
 
Valentina Origel kept pace with Garvin and Chen throughout the day, finishing just one shot behind the duo. Origel used back-to-back birdies on holes nine and 10 to set the tone for an opening round 73 (+2).
 
Rounding out the NM State scoring efforts on Sunday was 
Emma Bunch. Bunch finished the front nine holes with an even 35 before somewhat struggling on the back nine. Bunch finished Sunday's round with a 74 (+3) on her scorecard.
 
First Round Notes
	- Angela Garvin played her first round as an Aggie on Sunday, firing a 72 (+1)
- Garvin and Kaylee Chen remain tied for the Aggies low score, tying for 11th place.
- Garvin and Chen sit just five shots behind the leader – Lauren Thompson of Lipscomb (67; -4)
- Chen's 17 pars in the opening round leads all players in the field.
- The Aggies will be paired with East Tennessee State and Campbell for Tuesday's second round.
