MADISON, Wis. – The incredible stretch of golf for
Emma Bunch rolls on as the Badger Invitational comes to a close. Following a career-best 66 (-6) on Monday, Bunch nearly matched suit with a 67 (-5) on Tuesday. With the back-to-back strong showings, Bunch brings her season scoring average down to 69.83 while also leading the 15-team field with 15 birdies of her own.
"Emma was rock solid all week. It was fun to see someone so locked in and laser focused," remarked NM State Women's Golf Head Coach Danny Bowen. "I'm very proud of the way she came back from an over par first round to shooting back-to-back bogey free rounds on a tough golf course. Her putter was lights out."
As a team, NM State rounded out the tournament in fifth place, shooting 879 (+15). In the final round, the Aggies shot a 295 (+7).
For the second straight tournament,
Angela Garvin finished inside the top 25. Garvin fired a 76 (+4) in the final round to finish in a tie for 23rd. Rounding out the scoring alongside Garvin were
Kaylee Chen and
Valentina Origel, both of whom also shot a 76 (+4).
Final Round Notes
- Emma Bunch (5) had nearly as many birdies on Tuesday as the remainder of the Aggies (6)
- Bunch posted her second straight bogey-free round
- Bunch was in the top two in scoring on Par 3s (2.80), Par 4s (3.96), and Par 4s (4.73)
- NM State paced the Badger Invitational on Par 4s, averaging 4.10 (+12)
- The Aggies will be back in action on Monday, September 25
