Gastelum Leads Field at Red Sky Classic

VAIL, Colo. – After entering Tuesday in fourth place, NM State women's golf ascended into third place in Vail, firing a 297 as a team. NM State (592; +16) trails just High Point (590; +14) and No. 9 Pepperdine (573; -3) as focus shifts to the final round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic.
 
Alison Gastelum has been red-hot throughout the Red Sky Classic and will enter the final day in a tie for first place. For the second straight day, Gastelum shot under par, finishing with a 70 (-2) on Tuesday. The senior birdied three times while adding an eagle on 15. As the tournament shifts to its final round, Gastelum and Madison Holmes (Central Arkansas) remain deadlocked atop the leaderboard at three-under.
 
Playing as an individual, Isa Laulhé remains tied for 20th, shooting 149 (+5). On Tuesday, Laulhé birdied four times on her way to finishing with a 75 (+3) on her scorecard. As play enters the final day, Laulhé leads all players who are competing in the Red Sky Classic as individuals.
 
Behind Gastelum, Enna Bunch and Valentina Origel are leading the NM State scoring efforts. Bunch, a sophomore from Denmark, sits tied for 26th place at seven-over for the tournament. Origel rose 32 spots up the leaderboard on Tuesday when she shot a 73 (+1) – six shots better than her Monday performance.
 
On Wednesday, the Aggies will play in the top grouping with Pepperdine, High Point, and Boise State. The grouping will tee off as part of a 9:15 a.m. MT shotgun start.
 
Second Round Notes
  • Alison Gastelum enters the final round in a tie for first place, shooting a 141 (-3) thus far. Gastelum splits the lead with Central Arkansas' Madison Holmes.
