Gastelum Wins Red Sky Classic Title; Aggies Finish Second

Senior Alison Gastelum wins the individual championship in Colorado, shooting a 209 (-7)

VAIL, Colo. – For the second time this season, NM State women's golf is bringing a top-three finish back to Las Cruces. Led by individual champion Alison Gastelum, the Aggies finished in second place, shooting 874 (+10) as a team. In Wednesday's final round, NM State posted the lowest score in the field, firing a six-under 282.
 
Gastelum took home the individual championship after some late round heroics. Gastelum, a senior from Chihuahua, Mexico, birdied the 18th hole to break a tie with Central Arkansas' Madison Holmes. During the final round, Gastelum shot a 68 (-4) with just one birdie en route to her first individual title.
 
For the first in her collegiate career, Isa Laulhé finished inside the top 25 of a tournament. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native finished tied for 17th after shooting an even 72 on Wednesday. Last week's Conference USA Golfer of the Week, Emma Bunch, was red-hot in the final round, firing a four-under 68 with a team-leading eight birdies.
 
NM State will return to the Land of Enchantment to host the Golf Iconic Classic, beginning on Monday, Oct. 9. In the 2022 running of the Golf Iconic Classic, the Aggies finished just behind Pepperdine. Both Gastelum and Valentina Origel claimed top-ten finishes on the home course while Bunch, Kaylee Chen, and Meiji Tungprapunvong all finished inside the top 25.
