Becomes first Aggie to earn the distinction for indoor track since Feb. 2022

DALLAS – The Aggie sprinter is at it again. For her efforts this past week, Aliyah Logan has been named the CUSA Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Saturday afternoon ran at the MLK Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., where she surpassed her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.24 seconds. This is the first athlete of the week honor for the senior from Markham, Ontario, Canada, and the Aggies' first since Jhana Downie won the award during the 2023 outdoor season (Mar. 23). She also becomes the first Aggie to win a weekly award for an indoor performance since Phetisang Makhethe nabbed field athlete of the week in the 2022 season (Feb. 15).

Making history is nothing new for Logan. Her name tops the NM State record books in both indoor and outdoor competition, holding the top spot in both the 100m hurdles and the 60m hurdles, as well as helping the 4x100 team to the second-fastest time in program history.

Including this past weekend's meet, Logan has a pair of podium finishes through NM State's first two meets. At the Stan Scott Memorial in Lubbock, Texas on Jan. 13, Logan took the silver medal in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.37.

The Aggies will return to action next weekend, Feb. 2-3, for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque. This will be the second of three meets for NM State in the Duke City, and penultimate regular season meet ahead of the CUSA Championship, held Feb. 23-24 in Lynchburg, Virginia.
