Aggies Prepare to Play in PING/ASU Thunderbird Classic

NM State begins three-round event on Thursday.

PHOENIX – After traveling to Florida last week, the Aggies will return to Phoenix for the second time in three weeks as they prepare for the PING/ASU Thunderbird Classic with play set to begin on Thursday morning at the Papago Golf Club.
 
The two-day tournament is set to begin at 8:35 a.m. MT as the Aggies will be joined by 16 other teams – playing 36 holes on the opening day before returning Friday for the final round. NM State will compete alongside host Arizona State, Arizona, USC, Stanford, UCLA, Texas, Oregon, Northwestern, California, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Oregon State, Denver, Baylor, Colorado and New Mexico.
 
NM State's lineup includes Emma Bunch, Alison Gastelum, Angela Garvin, Marley Moncada and Isabel Laulhé. Most recently, the Aggies traveled to Florida where they competed in the UNF Collegiate and finished 12th following shooting 12-under for the week. In Honolulu, the Aggies were once again led by Emma Bunch who was crowned the individual co-champion – recording her second straight individual title.
 
The Papago Golf Club serves as the home course to both the men's and women's Sun Devil golf teams and was established in 1963 and has hosted prestigious events like the US Amateur Public Links Championship in 1971.
