JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tuesday the Aggies wrapped up their stay in Florida as they closed out play at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate hosted by North Florida.
For the second straight week,
Emma Bunch finished atop the leaderboard as she fired a 69 (-3) in the final round to close the gap and earn the honor of co-champion along with North Florida's Christin Eisenbeiss as both finished the tournament with a three-round score of 204 (-12) at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. Bunch's stellar week comes just one week after running away with the individual title at the GCU Invitational.
As a team, the Aggies posted an 875 (+11) to finish in 12
th place among a leaderboard which featured 19 programs, including fellow Conference USA programs, Sam Houston, Western Kentucky, Jacksonville State and future CUSA member Kennesaw State. By shooting 16 under par, Sam Houston claimed the team title.
After ending the opening day of competition tied for second, Bunch finished off her second round of play on Tuesday morning – posting a 67 to mark the lowest second-round score of any competitor in the 102-person field while moving within two strokes of the leader. The native of Lynge, Denmark, then recorded a final round 69 which featured four birdies to fully close the gap and take home a share of the championship.
On the week, Bunch ranked second in average score on the par 3s, third on the par 4s and second on the par 5s while ranking second in total birdies among individuals.
Meanwhile,
Alison Gastelum finished second among Aggies – posting a final score of 222 (+6) to finish 51
st after compiling six birdies and one of the tournament's 10 eagles of the three-round event.
UP NEXT
The Aggies will now be out of competition for three weeks as they ready for the PING/ASU Thunderbird Classic in Phoenix beginning Thursday, March 28. The three-day event will take place at the Papago Golf Club.
