DALLAS – For the second straight week, sophomore
Emma Bunch has been named the CUSA Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday. This marks the fourth time that the sophomore has collected this honor during her brief NM State career.
The Lynge, Denmark, native helped secure the Aggies' second team title of the season, tying for first place at the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate with a three-day score of 204 (-12). This follows her first-place finish at the GCU Invitational where she secured the top spot on the leaderboard with a score of 202 (-14), three strokes clear of the next closest competitor.
After ending the opening day of competition tied for second, Bunch finished her second round of play on Tuesday morning – posting a 67 to mark the lowest second-round score of any competitor in the 102-person field while moving within two strokes of the leader. She then recorded a final round 69 which featured four birdies to fully close the gap and take home a share of the championship. On the week, Bunch ranked second in average score on the par 3s, third on the par 4s and second on the par 5s while ranking second in total birdies among individuals.
Bunch and the Aggies will get a three-week respite before returning to action next Thursday, March 28 when they head to Phoenix to take part in the PING/ASU Thunderbird Classic at the Papago Golf Club – a tournament hosted by Arizona State.
