ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Taking their talents to the largest city in New Mexico, NM State competed in the Don Kirby Tailwind Twilight, hosted by the University of New Mexico on Friday night. The one-day meet proved fruitful for the Aggies, who posted seven podium finishes including a pair of first-place results by
Rebecca Green and
Cameron Hodges. As well, multiple Aggies set personal records across multiple events.
Mariah Humphrey got the Aggies' podium activity started, taking second place in the javelin, recording a mark of 37.46 meters (122-11"). This follows her first-place finish at last week's Cerritos Invitational.
In the Long Jump,
Cameron Hodges eclipsed her previous best, taking fourth overall with a best jump of 6.01m (19-8.75").
Later in the day competing in the triple jump, Hodges showed her versatility by taking home gold with a best distance of 11.85m (38-10.50").
The lone entrant on the women's side of the 800m run, freshman and Deming native Marlene Mosqueda posted a mark of 2:18.69 seconds, setting a personal best and taking third overall. This becomes Mosqueda's first solo podium finish of her young NM State career.
In the men's edition of the 800m run, Thomas Croshaw posted a personal best time of 1:58.51 to take fourth place, while fellow freshman Tyler Goode recorded a new best time of 2:10.91.
Jody Blackwood recorded a pair of top-five finishes in the Duke City, taking fourth in the 200m dash with a wind-adjusted time of 24.54 (+2.5 m/s), while capturing fifth in the 100m dash with a wind-adjusted time of 12.22 (+2.3 m/s).
Returning to action for the first time in the spring season, Nick Ortiz recorded an altitude-adjusted time of 53.51 in his first collegiate 400m dash.
Taking part in the 3000m run for the first time as a member of the Crimson & White,
Trista Cordova finished with a time of 11:24.98.
Competing in the 1500m run,
Murrie Dodge crossed the line with a time of 5:22.95 to mark her first collegiate appearance in the event.
Consistency is key, and
Rebecca Green has been a prime example for NM State this season. For the fourth time in outdoor competition and the fifth time in 2024, the Los Alamos native took home the gold in the shot put, recording a best result of 16.47m (54-0.50"). This is the second-best distance of Green's career, behind her school record mark of 16.59m set at this season's Stanford Invitational.
Joining Green on the podium was true freshman
Kamryn Cadle, recording a personal best mark of 14.10m (46-3.25") to take third.
In the discus,
Makiya Moore tallied her third podium finish of outdoor competition, taking silver with a mark of 49.22m (161-6"). Alongside Moore, freshman
Ladina Kobler posted a new personal record, recording a best distance of 43.59m (143') to finish fourth overall.
