BATON ROUGE, La. – NM State returned to action on Saturday from Baton Rouge, home of the SEC's LSU Tigers for the LSU Alumni Gold. Featuring the Crimson & White's sprints athletes, the Aggies recorded multiple top-five finishes, along with personal and season bests.
Jhana Downie,
Aliyah Logan and
Terice Steen paved the way from NM State in the 200m dash, 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles respectively.

Sierra Brewer took the top spot among Aggies in the 100m dash, posting a time of 11.73 seconds to tie her personal best. Alongside Brewer,
Grace Pendarvis recorded a season-best time of 11.85 in the event.
One of three individual top-five finishes posted by NM State on the day,
Jhana Downie tallied an all-conditions best time of 23.18 (+2.8 m/s) in the 200m dash to finish fifth. This time by Downie currently projects as the 15
th fastest time in the West region.
Sierra Brewer also crossed the line with an all-conditions best mark of 24.08 (+2.8 m/s).
No stranger to stiff competition,
Aliyah Logan competed in the 100m hurdles with five other collegiate athletes who would finish inside the top-50 for the fastest times in the nation. The senior from Markham, Ontario, Canada, would go on to outpace them all, finishing fourth overall and first among collegiate athletes with a time of 13.20.
In the 400m hurdles,
Terice Steen posted a season-best time of 58.59 to take fifth place. This mark ranks the senior from Hanover, Jamaica 28
th in the NCAA West region. Joining Steen,
Breanna Moss (1:01.08) and
T'Erica Boyd (1:03.81) posted season bests on the day.
The first of two relay teams to compete for NM State in Baton Rouge, the 4x100 team of
Aliyah Logan,
Jhana Downie,
Sierra Brewer and
Grace Pendarvis crossed the line with a mark of 45.27.
In the final event of the meet, the 4x400 relay team of
Terice Steen,
Breanna Moss,
Jhana Downie,
Sierra Brewer captured a third-place finish, posting a time of 3:38.36.
UP NEXT
Competing in a singular meet for the first time since the season opening Willie Williams Classic on Mar. 22-23, the Aggies will make a return trip to Tucson for the Desert Heat Classic. The one-day meet is set for Saturday, Apr. 27 from Drachman Stadium.
This meet will serve as NM State's final regular season competition ahead of the 2024 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held May 10-12 in El Paso, Texas, hosted by UTEP.
