LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Aggies wrapped up their home schedule on Sunday afternoon as they hosted Lubbock Christian at the NM State Tennis Center. The visiting Chaps pushed the Aggies, however, the home side emerged victorious – winning 4-3. With the win, NM State moves to 8-11 on the season with two matches remaining on the schedule before the Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship.
To begin the day, the Chaps proved they came to play as they secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. For the Aggies, the tandem of Itay Feigin and Ricardo Mercado would be the lone team to win their match as they secured a 6-4 victory at No. 3.
Trailing by one point, the Aggies watched the hole grow to three points as the Chaps notched singles wins at both No. 3 and No. 5. However, moments later, the Aggies began to show life. The first point for the Crimson and White came at No. 2 where Tobias Wallin picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win. Meanwhile, Luca Fé d'Ostiani earned a match win for himself as he bounced back from a first-set loss to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Similarly, Roko Stipetic followed Fé D'Ostiani's victory with a three-set win over LCU's Pablo Segura – winning 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Tied at 3-3, the match would be left up to the result at No. 1 where Itay Feigin and Martins Abamu split the first two sets as Abamu won the opening set 7-6 before Feigin won the second set 6-2 to leave all eyes on the match-deciding third set. In the final set, Feigin switched into a new gear to secure a 6-1 win and give the Aggies the match win.
