Emily Stutesman Honored with Spring CUSA Spirit of Service Award

The Glendale, Ariz., native earns an award for her impact on the Las Cruces Community.

DALLAS – After becoming one of nine recipients of the Jim Castañeda Post Graduate Scholarship, Emily Stutesman has earned another honor for her work off the track. On Tuesday, Conference USA announced its Spring CUSA Spirit of Service honorees. The CUSA Spirit of Service award "honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport."
 
Stutesman graduated from New Mexico State in May with a 3.896 cumulative GPA, earning double majors in Kinesiology and Psychology. Alongside these efforts, the Glendale, Ariz., native served in the Aggie Stampede Event, Women's Empowerment Dinner 5K Fun Run and is a science campus tutor in Las Cruces. Stutesman is a 10-time NM State Crimson Scholar Athlete and was a recipient of the 2023-24 CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
 
After finishing in second (5,000m) and sixth (10,000m) at the CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Stutesman made her first appearance at the NCAA West first round in Fayetteville, Ark., competing in the 10,000m run.
