LUBBOCK, Texas – NM State opened play at the Red Raider Invitational on Tuesday morning as they played 36 holes on The Rawls Course alongside 15 programs. The Aggies opened the day with a 299 (+11) in the opening round of action to find themselves in eighth place with 36 holes remaining. However, NM State would drop three spots in the standings after shooting a 303 (+16) in the second round of the tournament. The Aggies do sit four strokes ahead of Nebraska – one of the four Power Four programs competing this week.
 
Individually, the Aggies were once again led by junior Emma Bunch who is currently slotted in fourth place among the field of 88 players. Bunch began her day with a 71 (-1) in the first round after posting four birdies, including a four on the 18^th hole to come in under par. Bunch also shot a 71 in the second round, however, appeared much more consistent as she turned in 15 pars, two birdies and just one bogey. At 2-under, Bunch is in a tie for fourth place alongside four other women. This also puts her just three strokes off the lead which is currently held by New Mexico's Maria Caparros Levin.
 
The Aggies' next-lowest score came from Marley Moncada who finished as the Aggies' No. 2 performer in their previous tournament and is competing this week as an individual. Moncada opened her day with an impressive 72 (E) to enter the second round in a tie for 14^th. A second-round 77 (+5) would leave Moncada in a tie for 36^th after 36 holes.
 
Angela Garvin also shot even par in the first round, but currently sits one stroke behind Moncada and in a tie for 42^nd after shooting a 78 (+6) in the second round.
 
The Aggies will return to the course for the final round on Wednesday and will tee off at 8 a.m. MT. All scores from the final round can be found here.
