LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Zawdie Jackson has been named a 2024-25 CSC Men's Basketball Academic All-District honoree, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon. This would mark his second academic award this season after being named to CUSA All-Academic Team as well.
Jackson is one of just 19 Conference USA student-athletes and one of only five male athletes - to earn All-District recognition.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
In his first season with the Aggies, Jackson has been a key contributor on both ends of the court. He leads the team in assists, averaging 3.1 per game, ranks second in total steals with 31, and sits third in scoring with 10.7 points per game. His most impressive outing came against Utah Tech, where he exploded for a season-high 24 points on an efficient 9-of-11 shooting, including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. He also filled the stat sheet with seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals in the victory.
Another standout performance came in his home state of Georgia, where he tallied 20 points and five rebounds on 6-of-13 shooting against Kennesaw State.
Just as dedicated in the classroom, Jackson has maintained a GPA above 3.6 since arriving in Las Cruces. With aspirations of a career in public health, he continues to excel both academically and athletically, proving to be a true student-athlete at the highest level.
